The Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced person to fill the position of Trade Commissioner at the Pacific Islands Trade and Investment Commission (PITIC) in Auckland, New Zealand. The Trade Commissioner will be accountable to the Secretary General through the overall management of the Director, Economic Governance, Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat.
The position of Trade Commissioner encompasses the following Key Result Areas:
• Managing People;
• Servicing/Marketing/Liaison/Networking;
• Administrating/Reporting;
• Monitoring and Evaluation of achievements;
• Work Programming as well as M&E;
• Strategic direction for the PITIC New Zealand team.
• Financial and Management Support/Advice; and
The successful applicant will have a proven track record in export market development. They will have demonstrated experience and success in international trade and investment, international business and enterprise development, and will be a strong strategic planner with financial management and team leadership ability. They will possess a degree in business, marketing or management with a minimum 10 years of demonstrated experience. Familiarity with the Pacific islands private sector would be an advantage.
The appointment will carry a competitive remuneration package including generous benefits and allowances. The starting salary excluding benefits for the position is approximately SDR35,442. At 1 November 2009, this was equivalent to approximately NZD79,000.
