Released Date - February 04, 2010 SOL – EU ASSITANCE: SOL/STAR                        PACNEWS BIZ: Thurs 04 Feb 2010   European Union gives $1 million to Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce   04 FEBRUARY 2010 HONIARA ( SOLOMON STAR) ----- European Union (EU) will provide $1 million to help Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) do its job.   The grant will be for over a three-year period between 2010 and 2012.   The signing of the agreement will take place next week in Honiara.   Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Chamber Calvin Ziru confirmed this to the Solomon Star.   “The European Union will provide the chamber $1 million over a three year period (2010-2012),” he said.   Mr Ziru explained that the purpose of the grant is to allow the chamber carry out its business.   “This grant will enable the chamber to strengthen itself as a premium employer organisation.    “We expect to sign the grant documents next week,” he said.    Most businesses in town are members of the chamber….PNS (ENDS)
